Seeking dancer to work as an assistant choreographer for performing arts camps at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, University of Maryland. Camps are for ages 8 to 15 and include musical theater and dance fundamental sessions. The assistant will support the directors with choreography and teach dance classes in a variety of styles. They will also help with backstage needs during the camp productions and the creation of costumes, scenery and props. They will be asked to lead warm-ups, manage lunches and before/after care, chaperone field trips, and assist with daily management of the camp day. The ideal candidate has a desire to work with kids of all experiences, backgrounds, and talents. Camps operate June 25 to August 7 from 7 am to 6 pm. Shifts are from 7 am to 1 pm or 11 am to 6 pm. Additional hours will be required for final camp show performances. Mandatory trainings and planning dates are the evening of June 2 and June 3. Additional trainings TBD.
At least 18 years of age, with a background in dance. Ideal candidate would be someone with a degree in dance or currently studying dance/musical theater.
Salary: $11.75 – $18/hr; Based on years of teaching experience
