Cultural Visibility

The following program activities of Dance Metro DC address the primary need for
Cultural Visibility including audience development and identifying community impact.

Presentation Opportunities – Partnerships with Dance Loft on 14 and Dance Place aim to augment existing presentation opportunities and increase access to shared showcase performances for multiple artists.

Studio Dance Program – The result of a partnership with Dupont Circle Village, this daytime lecture/demonstration program brings professional dance experiences to senior communities in the District of Columbia.

Anti-Oppression Programming – Through a combination of contracting with outside organizers, and the development of a local cohort of trainers, Dance Metro DC has committed to working towards the elimination of oppression (racism, sexism and misogyny, ableism, ageism, etc…) throughout the regional dance community.

Advocacy – Dance Metro DC fulfills a key role as an advocate for the regional dance community and its participants.

Dedicated eBlast Service – Dedicated emails highlight member events and special opportunities to approximately 1,800 active regional email subscribers.
