Movement Analysis for Performing and Creative Artists
October 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
An introduction to the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) geared toward those applying the work to theatre, dance, visual art and creative writing.
LBMS offers an understanding of human movement rooted in identifying major patterns and themes (the macro view), as well as delving into details of the components of movement (micro).
In this experiential movement workshop, we’ll:
•Investigate big ideas that organize human movement, including Developmental Patterns, Thematic Dualities and Phrasing
•Elaborate on the components of movement: Body, Shape, Space and Effort
•Explore ways to apply these patterns and components to creative endeavors, including performing, writing, directing, choreography and visual art making.
No prior experience with LBMS is necessary. The workshop is appropriate for all curious arts makers and doers!
