Jane Franklin Dance: Real Time
July 25, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Real time and pre-recorded dances bring a unique performance experience to audiences via Zoom.
Featured at Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival 2019 and at Theatre on the Run, Jane Franklin Dance returns with a virtual presentation of “Border.” In this movement theater work, barriers experienced because of race, gender or disability are brought forward. A live, real-time performance via Zoom presents these individual stories in an up-close way and with awareness of bias that impacts communities. Hear the stories told through moving words and find a dialogue within shared experience.
The program includes pre-recorded performances as well. Kelsey Rohr’s You and Me, previously presented in November 2019, features Forty+ in a groovy piece reminding us to have fun and let go. Barry White’s sultry voice carries the dancers from one movement to another and makes you (and me) smile.
Jane Franklin’s Thorn in My Side is inspired by the hair trigger temper and baffling conflicts brought about by cartoon character Yosemite Sam. “I’m The roughest, toughest, he-man stuffest hombre ever crossed the Rio Grande” An’ I ain’t no namby-pamby.”
