Call for Entries – 38th Annual Choreographers Showcase 2021:Lockdown Videos
October 2, 2020
An event every day that begins at 8:00 am, repeating until November 30, 2020
The year 2020 has been marked by unprecedented challenges for the dance world. A global pandemic has confined dancers to their homes; studios and performance spaces have been shut down; How have choreographers responded? Houses and apartments have been re-designed as home studios. Phones, computers, and tablets have become video cameras.
This year the annual Choreographers Showcase will respond to the challenge. A video concert will be presented in January of 2021. Choreographers may submit their self-produced video dance compositions to a panel of three adjudicators: Charles O. Anderson, Gesel Mason, And Tiffany Rhynard. Dances should be created entirely on video, with the camera as a choreographic tool and partner. In addition to quality of choreographic expression, creativity of the camera-work will be an element of adjudication.
If you are ready for the challenge, submit your dance video for this exciting opportunity. You must be 18 years old or more, and live in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC. You could win $1000 and have your work included in the final virtual concert!
