Audition: 19: The Musical

Through the 4th Wall Productions- Dance Auditions for 19: The Musical

Saturday, September 7, 2:30-5:00 pm or Sunday, September 8, 7-9:30 pm
Local Motion Project, 2377 South Dove Street, Alexandria, VA 22314

Local theater/film company Through the 4th Wall (TT4W) is casting dancers for an original theater project called 19:The Musical.

“19” is the dynamic and little-known story of Alice Paul, Ida B. Wells, Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt and the other suffragists who fought to get women the right to vote- the 19th Amendment. The inspirational story of these fearless women is brought to life through jazz, traditional musical style, spoken word, hints of gospel and dance.

We’re looking for strong dancers with a focus in contemporary/jazz. We’re seeking diversity in all areas (body type, ethnicity, age 18+). Should be able to sing and express a variety of emotions through movement. This is a dynamic process so being adaptable and flexible is a must.

TT4W is also adding our signature “immersive theatrical experience” and audience interaction into the show. Actors should be fearless because they will be directly interacting with audience members (interactions are simple and scripted.) Improv training/experience is a plus, but not a necessity. However, courage, enthusiasm, and professionalism are 100% required.

Rehearsals begin mid-September with performances November 25th, 26th, 27th. There may also be opportunities to continue with the show after those performances.

Choreography will be taught at auditions, so come prepared to move. If you sing, please provide a clip with your resume, as you will not be asked to sing during the audition.
