Dance/USA is the national service organization for the professional dance field. Established in 1982, Dance/USA champions an inclusive and equitable dance field by leading, convening, advocating, and supporting individuals and organizations. Dance/USA’s core programs are focused in the areas of engagement, advocacy, research, and preservation.

The Membership Associate (MA) is a part-time (20 hours a week) position within Dance/USA’s highly active Membership Department. The MA will be an integral part of the Department’s operations and success. The primary responsibility of the MA will be focused on:

  • tracking and engaging renewed and new members;
  • maximizing our customer service management system (Salesforce);
  • updating content on the Dance/USA website; and
  • sending e-communications to members and non-members.

Occasionally, the MA will be engaged in meeting planning and logistics for Dance/USA’s Board of Trustees convenings. The MA may also support the activities of our Annual Conference and Dance Forum and will be assigned additional responsibilities as appropriate.

Qualities: The ideal MA will possess a personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion; be detail oriented; motivated and proactive; solution oriented and able to find creative solutions to everyday challenges. This individual should also be patient; curious; and possess a strong sense of customer service, professionalism, and written and oral communication skills. The MA must be able to juggle multiple layers of work with the ability to work independently with a remote supervisor.

Qualifications: A background in working with a customer service management system – ideally Salesforce – is key. Additionally, experience updating website content and managing e-communications in a system – such as MailChimp – is desired as well as a background in marketing. A Bachelor’s degree, with a background in arts administration and/or dance is a plus.

Occasional travel is required.
