Applications are open for Small Plates Choreography Festival, a curated dance performance series to be presented on February 8 and 9, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. Any choreographer of any genre interested in presenting work in an intimate venue in Northern Virginia is welcome to apply.

The Friday performance will highlight pre-professional dance created by student choreographers, or by professional choreographers performed by students.

Saturday’s performance will mainly feature professional artists with limited space by invitation only for pre-professional work.

Small Plates creates a growth environment by providing an opportunity for dialogue with the audience after each performance. This artist/audience interface is what makes Small Plates truly special.

An application fee of $25.00 per piece is required with an additional production fee of $25 for each accepted dance. Artists are expected to help populate the audience by promoting their involvement in the festival and by bringing at least two paid patrons to each performance in which their work appears.

Artists are compensated with a complimentary ticket to each performance and photo and video documentation.
