Please join us for – and help us spread the word about – this upcoming workshop. “Moving Anatomy: Core Support” is a three-hour, Sunday afternoon workshop offering a wholistic experience of “core” rooted in the Bartenieff Fundamentals Principles. The class will include anatomy lecture, movement experiences and their application to a basic yoga practice (no prior yoga training is necessary). Here’s more information:
Core is more than muscle!
We often lose awareness of the body as a whole entity; especially when a “body part” concept is emphasized over the anatomical connections that bring all our parts together into a unified moving whole. This workshop explores the synergy of torso-limb connectivity through a yoga practice that plays with changing points of view. When might the upper core be considered a limb? When might the finger tips be an expression of the core? Can the spine be both core and limb, and integrate the body? How might ideas of what is core and what are limbs better serve us as connected, lively movers?
Open to all; no experience necessary. Appropriate for teachers, students and curious movers!
