Administrative Assistant to the Artistic Director

Position begins on or about February 15, 2017

Position Description: Chamber Dance Project is seeking an outstanding Assistant to the Artistic Director

  • Works with and reports to the Artistic Director
  • 17 hours/week: work two non-consecutive days Monday- Thursday between 9-5pm at our office in Metro Center and 2-3 hours/week remotely; occasional work at events/performances
  • Company phone line and front office support provided in office
  • Hired as an independent contractor, own laptop computer required
  • $15/hour with increase to $16/hour after two months of excellent performance; paid monthly with possibility for additional hours during May-June season


Job Responsibilities

  • Social Media: Heads campaign across all platforms including generating media content
  • Patrons: generate written acknowledgements, evites, other communication
  • Board: ongoing communication with and support as needed
  • Website/enewsletter: provide updated content to webmaster and newsletter editor; monitor and proofread website
  • Office: Maintain filing system and organization for materials and documents, organize and schedule meetings, work with other staff as needed
  • Events, performances: assist in event planning and support, administrative support before and at the March Gala
  • Database: ongoing management and updating of Excel records
  • Season: Coordinate season schedules, travel and logistics with artists, assist with promotion and other administrative areas as needed
  • Touring/Residencies: work on cultivating potential residencies for the company in 2018 and beyond



  • 4-year college degree required
  • Excellent ability to organize, prioritize, and manage diverse tasks while meeting deadlines with great attention to quality, detail and accuracy of work
  • Takes initiative in anticipating and solving challenges
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel and mail merge), all evite platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in managing creative Social Media campaigns: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills to interact with artists, the Board, and patrons in a very personable manner
  • Experience in arts administration is preferred
