Afromoda Dance Theater is looking for dancers well versed in Modern and West African dance techniques for the 2015-2016 season. We are the only company in Washington, D.C. to offer our audiences performances that feature engaging Afro-Modern choreography, live African drumming, and enlightening storytelling.
The company is currently casting roles for this summer’s production of Harriet, a multi-media dance production about the legacy of Harriet Tubman, premiering Aug. 1-2, 2015 at the Jack Guidone Theater. We are looking for dancers to perform for our 2015-2016 season. Last year’s season included performances at the H Street Festival, Services to Justice Conference, annual Kwanzaa production, and an evening-length collaboration with Congressional Chorus.
Dancers will receive a performance stipend for all paid performances. Rehearsals are unpaid. Rehearsals occur three times a week during the summer season, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30pm at BMHS, 6800 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD 20747, and Saturdays from 3:00-4:30pm at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Atlas, 1333 H Street N.E. Washington, D.C. 20002.
Dancers should RSVP to the audition by sending a resume and headshot to Associate Artistic Director, Darlisa Wajid-Ali, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
