Job Opening Joe’s Movement Emporium Theater Production Manager Joe’s Movement Emporium is a cultural hub in the Gateway Arts District in Mount Rainier, MD and the surrounding area, and offers 100-plus live performances every year in music, theater and dance, plus film and other events. Joe’s is hiring a Theater Production Manager to plan and oversee the production of our diverse events to ensure excellent artist, audience and student experiences. Supporting operations of the theater is a year-round job training program in theater tech and digital media for high school seniors or recently out-of-school youth. We welcome applications from candidates with the following skills:

  • Broad technical knowledge of theater equipment and its use
  • Business software proficiency – including Microsoft Visio; Lightwright and Vectorworks
  • Strong supervisory skills and effective teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Strong mentorship skills to supervise and support students in the Theater Tech Program, a workforce development program for students ages 17-24
  • Communicating with internal and external clients about their technical needs at Joe’s
  • Recommending and prioritizing annual capital equipment purchases and repair and maintenance work for theatre facilities
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state and federal safety standards and codes
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs and work at heights
  • At least two years’ experience in technical production of the performing arts
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BFA) in Technical Theater or the equivalent. This position is 20-30 per week with hours based on production schedule. Support staff for theater operations include tech crew, Theater Tech Trainer, Theater Tech Program Director and Marketing Director.
